An exciting new start for the Public Health and Hospital sectors, a few words from Emma Chapman-Davies.

I am delighted to join The Orchard Talent Group as the new Engagement Manager for Public Health & Hospitals. 

My aim is to build on the success the Derwent business is currently experiencing within the Public Health Sector and assist organisations to build their talent capability further down the org chart where talent considerations are often crucial to organisation success.

Having led the research function for Derwent Executive's Public Sector and Health practice, I am incredibly excited to build on our existing relationships within Government and Private Hospitals to assist our clients to address their current talent pain points. 

The Australian Hospital Sector experiences one of the largest talent deficiencies in the Australian services economy and has remained one of the most competitive workforces in our nation. It is my aim to assist organisations to remedy these challenges through the supply of high calibre talent, allowing for better health outcomes within the community. 

I consider myself privileged to have worked alongside Derwent founding Partners Andrew McEncroe (Public Sector Lead) and Dianne Williams (Health Sector Lead). The depth of knowledge obtained from working under nationally acclaimed leaders with decades of search knowledge has provided incredible tutelage. 

Most recently I had the opportunity to work with Rob Macmillan (Public Health Sector lead). The depth of dedication to robust search process, thorough assessment and advanced onboarding has been a delight to be part of and has led to some high profile appointments such as; Medical Director, Medical Council NSW and the Director Mental Health & Integrated Care, Mid North Coast Local Health District. 

A rigorous approach to search is particularly important within the health sector. Candidate pools are limited and relocation is often required. An understanding regarding the complexity of our clients commercial issues is crucial. 

I have always had a personal affinity to work within the health sector. Before joining Derwent Executive, I managed my family’s optometry practice which saw me work alongside my parents (both practising optometrists), general practitioners, specialists and hospitals to provide care to our patients within the Lakemba community - a business my family has operated for almost a century.  

Experiences gained working within community health from a young age has increased my drive for the betterment of the Australian Health sector. 

Currently our nation faces several significant health care challenges which include an ageing population, integration of our nations’ largest healthcare expenditure since Medicare through the NDIS, and the sharp increase of lifestyle and chronic diseases. 

Never before has there been a time that requires more dedication to the pursuit of an integrated approach for the betterment of the populations’ health. It is my hope that we can provide part of this solution. 

Through joining The Orchard Talent Group, it is my aim to assist organisations remedy these challenges by providing talent solutions, particularly in hard-to-fill appointments, so our clients may achieve their strategic goals and deliver outstanding patient care.
