2018 A Year In Review - A letter from the MD

The end of the 2018 calendar year marks the first full year of operation for the Orchard Talent Group - and what a year it has been. In 2017 The Orchard Talent Group was created to assist businesses within the human services industries elevate the capability of professional talent options within their organisation. This is precisely what we have delivered in 2018.

With the run into Christmas we are delighted to say that this year as part of the Derwent Group we have combined for over 150 successful appointments within the Human Services sectors. Assisting organisations solve complex commercial concerns through the appointment of high calibre talent at this quantity and scale has been an incredible opportunity to be part of.

Some highlights internally include our expansion into the Disability and Public Health-Hospital Sectors. Adding to our flagship Aged Care portfolio, this has seen our team more than triple in size within 12 months. This growth increases our ability to focus on corporate, clinical and regional appointments across Aged Care, Disability, Community Services and Public Health entities. We are immensely thankful for the client support we have received and look forward to building on these relationships in 2019.

In what has been an incredibly busy year for many within the Australian Human Services sectors, including a Royal Commission into Ageing, the ability of Orchard to assist originations undergoing vast internal change stemming from vast external pressure has been paramount. The ability to work in confidentiality, at speed and deliver certainty of outcome has never been more important. Leading our Project Division personally we have recently assisted three organisations undergoing substantial Workforce reform and combined for over 50 appointments in the last three months. We believe this service will continue to grow in the new year as market conditions continue to become more complex.

Addressing that Workforce data was not readily accessible or reflective of current Workforce conditions, in 2017 The Orchard Talent Group released our first Industry Insights Workforce report. This document was widely circulated and led to many conversations within the Executive, Boardroom and even Federal Government. We are humbled that our 2018 Workforce report, which surveyed over 3,500 individuals within the Australian Aged Care sector, received an even broader distribution. Using the findings of this report, Orchard has been privileged to provide advice and council to several Boards discussing Workforce capability and the Workforce of the future. We are delighted to be shaping the conversation of Ageing and Disability within this country at the highest of levels and look forward to this continuing.

Here at the Orchard Talent Group we are enthusiastic for the New Year ahead. 2019 will see a broadening of our services and deeper involvement of Orchard within our client’s businesses. Central to all engagements undertaken by Orchard will be providing impact to organisations during times of change, disruption and vulnerability.
