MNCLHD provides a diverse range of services to a population of approximately 215,000 people. It has a workforce of 4,300 across seven hospital sites and 10 Community Health Centres, and a budget of approximately $700 million'
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic public health leader to join the District as the Director Public Health. The Director will provide leadership for the North Coast Public Health services, working across Mid North Coast and Northern NSW LHDs, including responsibility for Communicable Disease Surveillance & Control, Immunisation, Environmental Health, Tuberculosis Prevention and Control, Refugee Health and HIV & Related Programs.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive of the MNCLHD, the successful appointee will collaborate with senior managers across the region, to ensure achievement of public health objectives, effective financial and performance management, and the delivery of safe, high quality services.
This is a key role with significant operational responsibility during a critical time for public health nationally. The successful appointee will have a pivotal contribution to the organisation's response to the current COVID-19 health pandemic and other key public health challenges in the region.
An accomplished professional and well-rounded public health leader, or Staff Specialist, you will demonstrate extensive experience leading public health service delivery, a firm understanding of communicable diseases and transmission and a proven ability to collaborate across complex, geographically dispersed organisations.
In addition to the essential criteria, you will also demonstrate;
- In-depth knowledge and experience of public health service delivery, epidemiology and disease management, gained within a comparable, complex operating environment;
- Strong focus on solutions and a proven ability to identify and leverage strengths and weaknesses within an organisations operating environment; and
- Extensive experience leading diverse and complex health services with a focus on improving community engagement and public health outcomes.
