Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) is a government funded health organisation providing care to a population of approximately 30,740. Bordering three states and covering an area of 194,949 square kilometres, FWLHD is the second largest NSW Local Health District in terms of geographic area. FWLHD has nine facilities and an approximate budget of $115 million.
FWLHD is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their team and provide clinical education to the nursing staff of the Menindee, Ivanhoe, White Cliffs, Wilcannia and Tibooburra facilities to ensure continued outstanding patient care. FWLHD employs an innovative model that takes education to the remote and regional facilities within their District. This position will be a key member of the education team.
Reporting in to the General Manager Lower Western Sector, the Lower Western Sector Educator will assist in creating, evaluating and implementing clinical education programs to allow for continual and professional development of nursing and midwifery staff within the District. The role will;
- Collaborate and consult with management, staff and other educators to ensure clinical teaching and education is relevant to all level of staff and meets learning gaps.
- Provide hands on clinical support when needed
- Utilise a range of adult learning principles and approaches to facilitate the development of capability within individuals through acknowledgement of dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals or groups.
- Ensure adequate training support and supervision is provided to all to staff to remain credentialed.
- Actively participate in research and quality improvements in rural nursing knowledge to develop the clinical practicing within the District.
This role will be based in Broken Hill with travel required around the Lower Western Sector for up to three weeks at a time. For this appointment we are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist with previous experience in clinical teaching and education. Current registration with AHPRA as a nurse is mandatory. Those with previous experience working within an emergency care setting with credentials in Triage & Advanced Life Support as a DETECT trainer will be highly regarded. FWLHD will fully support the successful candidate to obtain the relevant credentials if necessary. The ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders is essential.
