The Organisation
Confit Pathways is a dynamic, values-driven social purpose organisation transforming outcomes for young people impacted by the justice system. Founded by those with lived experience, Confit builds pathways to belonging, education and empowerment for participants while shaping systemic reform. As the organisation moves from a successful start-up phase into growth and consolidation, we are seeking a highly capable and committed Board Chair to guide governance, strategy and impact at this pivotal stage of Confit’s evolution.

The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a high-impact organisation with strong momentum and significant growth potential. The incoming Chair will work in close partnership with Confit’s visionary Founder and CEO to balance entrepreneurial ambition with strong governance, financial sustainability and strategic clarity.

The Chair will lead a renewing Board, support ongoing innovation (including digital program delivery), and help expand Confit’s national profile, partnerships and influence. This role is suitable for a values-aligned leader passionate about social change and systemic reform.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Board to ensure strong governance, effective meetings and timely decisions.
  • Partner closely with the Founder, balancing vision with discipline and stability.
  • Support organisational sustainability by connecting to funding, networks, and advocacy opportunities.
  • Oversee financial sustainability, risk and compliance with rigorous reporting.
  • Guide Board renewal, succession, director recruitment and induction.
  • Build trusted relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders.

About you
You are an experienced governance leader, ideally with previous Chair or Deputy Chair experience, who brings a deep commitment to Confit’s purpose and ethos: centering lived experience, rejecting judgement, driving innovation and championing systemic change.

You will demonstrate:
  • Proven Board leadership and governance expertise, ideally in a social purpose, NFP or start-up context.
  • Strong understanding of risk, compliance and sustainable funding models.
  • Strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to steward growth and scale.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The credibility to partner with a visionary Founder and represent Confit externally.
Experience working with or alongside justice-involved communities, trauma-impacted cohorts, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is highly valued.

What’s on Offer:
  • A career-defining governance leadership role shaping outcomes for young people and influencing justice reform in Australia.
  • Anticipated commitment: ~1–2 days per month, plus short weekly Founder check-ins and occasional key events.
  • Voluntary, unremunerated position.
