Australians are presenting with higher health acuity needs, and services are increasingly integrated across health, education, and social care. 

Over the last decade, the sector has faced workforce shortages, fragmented service delivery, funding complexity, and rising expectations for access, quality, and innovation. Growth is expected to continue as telehealth, technology, and lived-experience roles become more central. Workforce capacity, cultural alignment, and organisational capability remain key challenges in delivering safe and effective care as the defintion of Mental Health services expands to best meet community expectation.
