The Organisation

Koonambil Aged Care Limited is a community-owned, mission-based organisation providing residential aged care and independent living services in Coonamble, NSW. Serving a close-knit regional community of approximately 3,000 people, Koonambil is deeply embedded in the local area and supported by a voluntary Board, a committed workforce of more than 35 staff, and an active volunteer base. The organisation operates a 30-bed residential aged care facility with ageing-in-place capability, respite services, and eight independent living units, with a strong focus on person-centred, dignified care.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and sustainability of Koonambil Aged Care. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role suited to a values-driven aged care leader who is motivated by working closely with older people, staff, families, and the broader community.

The CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring high-quality clinical and lifestyle outcomes for residents, financial sustainability of the organisation, and a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Given Koonambil’s regional context, the role requires a leader who is comfortable being present on site, accessible to staff and residents, and actively engaged in the life of the organisation and the town.

About You

This role will suit a CEO or senior aged care leader who combines professional capability with warmth, approachability, and a genuine motivation to work with older people. You will bring:
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally at CEO, General Manager, or senior operational level within residential aged care or a closely related health or care setting.
  • A clear personal commitment to older people, their wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life
  • A clinical background or meaningful clinical experience, enabling you to credibly engage with care teams, understand clinical risk, and support strong governance and quality outcomes
  • Strong human resources and people leadership capability, including experience managing rosters, performance, workforce challenges, and staff development in a 24/7 care environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with staff, residents, families, and community members, and a leadership style that is visible, approachable, and inclusive
  • A reputation for being respectful, fair, and invested in staff engagement, with the ability to work effectively alongside long-standing team members while supporting continuous improvement
  • Comfort leading a multicultural workforce, with a collaborative style that balances delegation with a willingness to be hands-on when required
  • A strong understanding of the residential aged care sector, including regulatory requirements, accreditation, funding, and the realities of regional service delivery

Whats On Offer

This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-regarded, community-owned aged care organisation in a meaningful and influential role. The successful CEO will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of residents and staff, while working closely with a committed Board and community to shape the future of aged care in Coonamble.
