Calvary Central Districts Hospital is entering a significant period of renewal and future planning, presenting an opportunity to play a central role in strengthening clinical leadership, rebuilding engagement and positioning the service for long-term sustainability and excellence.
The opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Clinical Services (DCS) is a core member of the Hospital Executive, accountable for shaping and delivering contemporary models of care, overseeing clinical services, and ensuring excellence in patient outcomes and clinical governance across:
- Calvary Central Districts Hospital
- Connery Centre Day Oncology
- Calvary SA Breast and Endocrine Centre at Playford Health Hub
The role provides executive oversight of clinical leaders and service areas, fostering high-performing teams, ensuring budget accountability, and embedding a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
About you
You are an accomplished Registered Nurse with senior clinical leadership experience at a level within a private acute setting. You bring a deep understanding of private hospital operations, including clinical governance, funding dynamics and performance management.
You possess the executive presence, clinical credibility and resilience to lead in a complex and evolving environment, balancing operational performance, governance and a positive workplace culture while maintaining an uncompromising focus on high-quality patient care.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven executive-level clinical and operational leadership experience
- Deep understanding of private hospital funding models and health fund dynamics
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk, compliance and NSQHS standards
- Experience leading perioperative services and engaging effectively with VMOs
- The ability to mentor and develop emerging leaders
- Sound financial stewardship and experience managing operational budgets
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- A demonstrated commitment to Calvary’s mission and Catholic health values
- Demonstrated mission-led leadership and commitment to values-based care
