The Opportunity
As UPA embarks on an exciting transformation journey, a newly created role has become available for a Director, Retirement Living (DRL). An integral member of the Executive Leadership team, the DRL holds oversight of the Retirement Living portfolio, leading a large and geographically dispersed team committed to delivering an exceptional consumer experience whilst meeting statutory requirements. Other key accountabilities include realising growth by meeting unmet community need and creating a continuum of care for UPA clients.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and leading a team managing 23 villages, the Director, Retirement Living will:
- Lead the strategic direction, leadership and growth of the retirement living portfolio, ensuring a genuine commitment to desirable retirement living solutions for consumers
- Deliver operational excellence whilst respecting legislative requirements, driving an accountable team culture across the entire retirement living workforce to mitigate risk and optimise continuous improvement
- Promote robust communication and marketing strategies leveraging on stakeholder management, applying a consultative approach to achieve best client experience and outcomes
- Build a clear roadmap identifying opportunities to support UPA’s retirement living growth trajectory and safeguard the future
- Protect and understand the journey of retirement living residents
For this role we are seeking a proven senior leader with demonstrated experience leading a multi-site, geographically dispersed retirement/communal living portfolio. In addition, the successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience and a minimum of five years Aged Care experience at a senior level, preferable in Retirement Village or community service design.
- Degree qualification in relevant discipline (Business, Marketing, Building, Architecture)
- A high level of knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Living Regulations, Standards and Legislation and emerging changes impacting the sector.
- A growth mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit with a demonstrated capacity to market and engage with communities to meet local needs and expectations..
- Proven ability to effectively plan and lead change and sustain a high-performing team within a multi-site organisation.
- A successful history of adaptable stakeholder management and influencing across an organisational structure including working closely with other business streams and/or corporate shared services to realise common sustainability goals
- Strong financial acumen with experience performing effectively against operational budgets across multiple locations.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions which balance customer experience, commercial outcomes and risk mitigation.
- An understanding of how increase brand awareness and to improve client experience.
