Your Opportunity
New Horizons exists to enhance wellbeing and create happy, inclusive communities across Disability and Mental Health. Following a period of change and broader organisational realignment that has seen a significant financial turnaround and cultural enhancements, they are now seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance function and drive performance across a diverse group of entities. Reporting to the EGM of Finance and Commercial Enterprises, the Financial Controller plays a critical leadership role, responsible for financial planning, forecasting, reporting, risk, governance, compliance, and stakeholder management. This is a unique opportunity to bring commercial acumen and a passion for purpose into one role—partnering with executive leaders to ensure sustainability, build financial literacy across teams, and support long-term growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Finance team across core financial functions
  • Drive accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting and forecasting to assist operational teams
  • Deliver robust budgeting, capital planning, audit and compliance activities
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management and governance frameworks
  • Engage with executives and external stakeholders, including auditors and funders
  • Foster a culture of commercial thinking and continuous improvement whilst empowering commercial understanding
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a strategic and collaborative finance leader with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, values-led environment. You will bring financial expertise along with a genuine commitment to making a positive social impact.

Key requirements include:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior financial roles, with NFP or health/community sectors highly attractive
  • CA or CPA accreditation
  • Demonstrated strength in financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning
  • Excellent leadership, communication and team development skills
  • Experience with funding agreements, grant acquittals and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to empower the teams with you
  • High integrity, professional ethics and alignment with New Horizons’ values
