The opportunity
Based in Parramatta and reporting to the Head of People, the Manager, Health, Safety & Wellbeing will play a pivotal role in leading Afford’s HSW framework nationally. This is a senior, hands-on position suited to an experienced practitioner who can operate as both a strategic advisor and a practical operator.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and continuously improving the HSW Management System across the organisation.
  • Driving organisational compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation, NDIS Practice Standards, regulatory obligations and external audit requirements, underpinned by strong risk management and assurance frameworks.
  • Overseeing incident investigation and hazard management, ensuring rigorous investigations, timely corrective actions, systemic learnings, and organisational‑wide performance reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, Executive and Board.
  • Championing and embedding a proactive, safety-first culture by driving organisation wide engagement, high impact training and meaningful consultation.
Regular site visits (including to Ingleburn) and some domestic travel will be required.

About you
You are a seasoned HSW leader who can provide confident, credible advice at executive level while remaining highly operational. You will bring:
  • Strong experience leading WHS systems, compliance and audit activity
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels
  • A practical, consultative approach to risk management and safety culture
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS (or a related discipline)
Backgrounds outside the disability or community sector are welcome.
