The Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools (DLCS) supports approximately 3,500 employees across 45 schools serving around 18,000 students throughout Northern NSW. DLCS provides system-level leadership, governance and support services to enable schools to deliver high quality, faith-filled education and safe, inclusive learning environments.
The opportunity
Based out of the Lismore Head Office or Coffs Harbour Office, this senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all child safeguarding and reportable conduct investigations and procedures across the Diocese and leading the team responsible for investigations and safeguarding advisory services. The role plays a critical part in ensuring investigations are fair, timely and compliant, while also strengthening organisational capability, confidence and a culture of safeguarding that reflects the values and mission of Catholic education.
Reporting to the General Counsel and leading a team, the Manager will:
- Oversee all reportable conduct matters from triage through to investigation, reporting and closure
- Ensure the organisation consistently meets its safeguarding and legislative obligations
- Act as a trusted adviser to leaders and staff on child protection and safeguarding
- Maintain strong working relationships with key external bodies such as OCG and DCJ
- Lead your team with care, clarity, expertise and support
- Align strongly to the catholic ethos of the organisation
About you
You are a confident and credible safeguarding professional who brings sound judgement, practical experience and the ability to influence and support others.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong background in child protection, safeguarding or investigative work
- A solid working knowledge of the NSW Child Safe Standards and related legislation
- Experience leading, coaching or mentoring others in a professional setting
- Clear, confident communicator who builds trust with a wide range of stakeholders
- A commitment to organisations Catholic values and ethos
