highly accomplished leader is sought for the position of Privacy Deputy Commissioner

The new Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) established as an independent oversight and regulatory body on 1 July 2025, builds community trust by empowering Western Australians to know and exercise their privacy and information access rights.
The OIC is the new regulator and source of independent advice to the community and the Western Australian Government about how the public sector handles personal and government information.
The OIC led by the Information Commissioner (Commissioner) is established under the Information Commissioner Act 2024 (the IC Act). The Commissioner will be supported by the Privacy Deputy Commissioner and Information Access Deputy Commissioner, to oversee both privacy and freedom of information matters in Western Australia.
The Privacy Deputy Commissioner will be responsible for supporting the Information Commissioner in strategic change transformation, and has specific functions and powers outlined in the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (the PRIS Act) and the IC Act.
The Privacy Deputy Commissioner’s core functions and powers are overseeing the implementation of the Information Privacy Principles and associated requirements under the PRIS Act and leading better practice improvements regarding privacy across the Western Australia government sector.
This is a fixed term position for up to 5 years with a competitive remuneration package, including a salary of $275,851 a motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance, plus superannuation.
