The organisation
Western Health provides hospital and community-based healthcare to one of Australia's fastest growing and most culturally diverse communities across Melbourne's west. United by its vision to deliver the healthcare of the future—Simple, Sustainable, Connected and Innovative—the organisation is committed to providing the best care in the right place and at the right time. Its people are driven by a shared commitment to partnership, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence, creating an environment where collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement are part of everyday practice.
As digital capability becomes increasingly central to delivering exceptional care and experienced for staff and patients, Western Health is entering a significant phase of transformation. Building on substantial investment in enterprise technology, data, analytics, cybersecurity and one of Australia's largest Oracle Electronic Medical Record environments, the organisation has established this executive role to accelerate digital innovation, unlock greater value from its investments and help shape the future of healthcare for the communities it serves.
The opportunity
This is the inaugural Chief Digital Health Transformation Officer role at Western Health and a rare opportunity to establish an enterprise-wide digital function from the executive level. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will bring together digital technology services, digital health, clinical informatics, enterprise data, analytics, cybersecurity and AI into a single strategic portfolio with responsibility for shaping how digital capability enables organisational performance and patient outcomes.
Beyond leading technology, you will influence how the organisation thinks, plans and delivers care. From developing the next generation of digital plans/strategies to strengthening data-driven decision making, advancing AI governance and leading the digital commissioning of the new $1bn Melton Hospital, you will help position Western Health as a recognised leader in contemporary healthcare innovation. Leading a workforce of almost 300 people, you will work across every part of the organisation to embed digital thinking into clinical practice, operational performance and future service delivery.
About you
You are an accomplished executive who has successfully led large-scale digital transformation in a complex environment. While experience in healthcare will be valued, it is not essential. We are equally interested in leaders from technology, infrastructure, government or other regulated sectors who understand how to translate digital investment into organisational impact. You have experience leading enterprise technology, data and digital functions, navigating competing priorities and delivering transformation that improves performance, customer experience and organisational capability.
More than a technology leader, you are an enterprise leader. You think strategically, influence confidently and build trusted relationships across Boards, executives and operational leaders. You bring a pragmatic, commercially minded approach, balancing innovation with governance while inspiring people to embrace change. Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare through technology and leave a lasting legacy for the communities Western Health serves.
How to Apply
This is a rare opportunity to establish and lead a new executive portfolio while shaping the future of digital healthcare for one of Australia's leading public health services.
