The organisation
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) is a not-for-profit charity providing 24/7 lifesaving aeromedical retrieval, emergency response and community-based primary healthcare across rural and remote NSW.
For more than 90 years, RFDS has delivered essential healthcare where access is limited, including aeromedical retrievals, GP and nursing clinics, dental care, mental health, alcohol and other drug services, chronic disease management and telehealth.
RFDS works in close partnership with NSW Health, NSW Ambulance, Local Health Districts and other emergency and primary care providers to deliver integrated care across one of Australia’s most complex health environments.
The opportunity
This role is based across Dubbo, Broken Hill and Bankstown, with regular travel required across all locations

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Health and Clinical Services / Chief Medical Officer, as Director of Nursing, Aeromedical and Emergency Services you will:
- Lead the design and delivery of contemporary aeromedical, retrieval and nursing models of care across NSW
- Build a high-performing, unified nursing workforce across geographically dispersed teams
- Drive clinical governance, safety, quality and performance across all aeromedical nursing services including NEPT services
- Strengthen education, training and workforce development pathways
About you
You will bring:
- Significant leadership experience in prehospital, retrieval or critical care nursing environments
- Ability to lead culture change and build high-performing clinical teams
- Demonstrated clinical governance capability with a focus on safety, quality and system improvement
- Proven experience in workforce development, education and capability building
