The opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Chief Operations Officer, the General Manager will lead Calvary Hobart, comprising Calvary Lenah Valley and Calvary St John’s Hospitals.
The General Manager will hold accountability for the clinical, operational and financial performance of both hospitals, leading the implementation of Calvary’s strategic priorities and ensuring services remain safe, responsive and financially sustainable.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading the hospital executive team and fostering a collaborative culture aligned with Calvary’s mission and values

Delivering agreed clinical, financial, workforce and operational objectives

Maintaining effective clinical governance, accreditation, quality and risk frameworks

Strengthening workforce capability, engagement and succession planning

Developing services and identifying sustainable growth opportunities

Building productive relationships with Visiting Medical Officers and other healthcare partners

Representing Calvary with government, health services, regulators, health funds and the broader community

This is a significant opportunity to lead two established private hospitals and shape the continued development of Calvary’s services in Tasmania.

About you
You are an experienced healthcare executive with a strong record of leadership within a large acute hospital, tertiary health service or similarly complex healthcare environment.
You combine commercial and operational acumen with a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and patient-centred care. You can set a clear direction, lead through complexity and build the relationships required to deliver sustainable organisational performance.
You will bring:

Significant executive leadership experience across complex clinical and non-clinical operations

Strong financial, commercial and strategic management capability

Demonstrated success leading teams, organisational change and performance improvement

Credibility with medical professionals, government and other senior stakeholders

A visible, collaborative and engaging leadership style

A genuine commitment to Calvary’s mission, values and strategic direction
