The organisation
Our client is a respected specialist healthcare provider operating in the Queensland market, delivering high-quality diagnostic services to hospitals, medical specialists and patients across the region.

The organisation has built a strong clinical reputation and trusted referral relationships over a number of years, underpinned by a highly experienced Dr led leadership team and a culture focused on quality, service and clinical excellence.

Following sustained growth, the organisation is entering an ambitious next phase centered on expansion. With the backing of a financial shareholder group, the business is pursuing a clear growth agenda rolling out new sites, scaling its operating footprint across the region and selectively exploring acquisition opportunities, underpinned by continued investment in leadership capability and the scalable infrastructure required to deliver it.

The opportunity
This newly created position presents a rare opportunity for a hands-on and commercially minded finance leader to take ownership of the finance function within a growing healthcare business.
Reporting to the Board and working closely with the Dr-led leadership team and financial shareholders, the Head of Finance will provide leadership across financial reporting, management information, budgeting, forecasting, governance, cash flow, operational finance and commercial decision support.

The organisation is focused on continuing to mature its finance capability in line with its scale and future ambitions. The incoming Head of Finance will play a central role in enhancing the quality and timeliness of reporting, strengthening financial governance and providing the Board and leadership team with clear, practical and decision-useful financial insight.

This is a broad and substantive role requiring both strategic capability and a willingness to be close to the detail. Working in partnership with clinical, operational and administrative leaders, the successful candidate will help build a contemporary, scalable and commercially focused finance function that supports performance, growth and future investment decisions.

This role provides the opportunity to shape the financial foundations of a high-performing healthcare business at an important stage in its growth. For the right person, it offers genuine breadth, influence and the opportunity to build capability that will materially support the organisation’s next phase.

About you
You are an experienced finance leader with a background in healthcare, diagnostics, pathology, medical services, or a similarly complex and regulated service environment.

You bring demonstrated experience leading a finance function across management reporting, controls, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, compliance and commercial decision support. You are technically strong, commercially minded and comfortable operating in growing environments where systems, processes and reporting frameworks continue to evolve.

You enjoy building capability and improving how finance supports decision making. You are able to identify opportunities for improvement, establish practical frameworks and create reporting that gives leaders greater visibility across performance, risk and growth.

You bring strong stakeholder management capability and the presence to engage effectively with a Dr led leadership team, Board and financial shareholder group. You understand how to introduce greater financial discipline and governance in a way that is collaborative, respectful and pragmatic.

Experience in a growing business, owner-led environment, private capital-backed organisation or business undergoing finance transformation will be highly regarded. Exposure to M&A, due diligence, post-acquisition integration, new site development or growth modelling would also be advantageous.

CA or CPA qualification is a mandatory requirement.
