The opportunity
Reporting to the Executive, People and Culture, the Work Health and Safety Manager will lead the organisation’s WHS function, overseeing the development and implementation of Sylvanvale’s WHS Management System across a complex, multi-site disability services environment.
Leading a small specialist team, the role will drive continuous improvement initiatives across workplace safety, injury prevention, workers compensation and return to work outcomes. The successful candidate will partner closely with operational leaders to strengthen safety capability, ensure legislative compliance and foster a proactive, people-centred safety culture.
Key responsibilities include:
You are an experienced WHS leader with a collaborative and pragmatic approach, ideally gained within disability, community services, healthcare or similarly complex environments. You bring strong technical knowledge across workplace health and safety, workers compensation and injury management, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive cultural outcomes. In addition, it is critical you bring a strategic mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude, joining a positive and friendly workplace culture.

- Leading and embedding the WHS Management System
- Driving WHS strategy, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing workers compensation and injury management outcomes
- Providing expert WHS advice across the organisation
- Analysing incident and risk trends to minimise workplace hazards
- Partnering with leaders to build organisational safety capability
- Overseeing WHS policies, compliance and training frameworks.

You bring strong technical knowledge across workplace health and safety, workers compensation and injury management, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive cultural outcomes. To be successful, you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within WHS and Injury Management
- Relevant qualifications in WHS or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience managing workplace risk and safety frameworks
- Strong understanding of NSW WHS and Workers Compensation legislation
- Experience leading investigations, reporting and policy development
- Proven capability managing return to work and injury prevention strategies
- Strong stakeholder engagement and team leadership capability
- Experience within disability or human services environments highly regarded.
